FRC stands for FIRST Robotics Competition.
FRC is a robotics competition organized by FIRST for high school students.
There are over 3,300 teams from +30 countries (map) and over 87,000 students.
The World Championship brings together the top 600 FRC teams from around the world.
FIRST is short for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
FIRST is a global robotics community with a suite of programs for students from age 4 to 18.
In addition to FRC for high school students,
FIRST also organizes FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for grades 7-12
and FIRST LEGO League (FLL) with divisions spanning grades PreK-8.
FIRST World Championship brings together +1,000 teams
with approximately 50,000 attendees from over 50 countries.
FRC 8592 is part of FIRST Chesapeake, a district with over 100 teams
from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
FRC 8592 is the varsity robotics team of
Nova Labs Robotics, a youth program of Nova Labs.
Nova Labs is a non-profit community makerspace in Northern Virginia
with 25,000 sq. ft of space and around 700 members.
FRC 8592 is a community team with 40 students from over 10 different schools.
We are mentored and assisted by 25 coaches and additional parent volunteers.
We meet at the Nova Labs makerspace from mid-August to mid-May.
We were formed in 2020 but we've already been to three World Championships
in Houston (2023, 2024, 2025). We hope to make it again in 2026!
In 2025, we finished top 2 in Virginia,
top 5 in the Chesapeake District, and top 6% worldwide!
